Committee report

This is a brief run down of the Committee and what we do.

The Committee is made up of Club Members who run their own business, either full or part time, some who are employed full time and others may do some part time work, plus others who are retired. We all have families to consider and have had to, or still do, look after and care for family members both young and old.

All members of the Committee volunteer their own time for your benefit.

How does the Committee work?:

The Committee is made up of a President, Vice President and twelve others.

There are also three Trustees who oversee the financial payments.

The Trustees do not have to attend Committee meetings but they can if they wish and can join in the discussions that take place.

The Secretary is employed by the Welcome Club and has a very important role in the Clubs business and also in arranging Committee meetings and  the AGM. He attends Committee meetings in his role as Secretary to give his report  and take minutes etc. but is not allowed to join in with any discussions or in any voting resulting from these discussions.

All members of the Committee meet every second Wednesday to discuss any and all matters to do with the Club. Outside of the meetings we have Subcommittees who concentrate on particular areas, put briefly:

The FINANCE Committee, as its name suggests, discuss and make financial decisions on all matters to do with the Club.

The BAR Committee negotiates with our suppliers in order to keep our prices as low as we can.

The Sport Committee arranges pool and darts matches.

We also have individuals who work on their own:-

ENTERTAINMENTS is the most noticeable which I am sure you realise takes a great deal of time.

One thing you may not notice is the many hours that are put in each year by some individuals to install, repair, update and service equipment wherever possible; saving the Club a large sum of money.

Another looks after the plants and helps out in a variety of ways throughout the year.

Yet another looks after the website and Welcome-Comments.

In fact everyone is willing to help out whenever they can.

A special mention must be made for some members of the staff and individual members of the Club who also give up their own time to help out in a variety of ways. Our thanks go out to them.

All members of the Committee attend as many meetings as they possibly can throughout the year. We also have two members on duty every Friday and Saturday. It is not a strict rota, we rely on volunteers but everyone is expected, and actually do, their fair share.

In fact whenever any of us are in the Club we are unofficially on duty and are expected to help out and sort out problems if necessary.
